Russia struck widely on Ukraines Independence Day at least

According to the adviser to the Defense Minister of Ukraine, the number and scope of attacks in different parts of Ukraine was unusual.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi says that Russia has launched a missile attack on the Tshaplino railway station in the Dnipropetrovsk region in central Ukraine. Four passenger carriages caught fire in the impact.

According to Zelenskyi, at least 22 people have been killed and around 50 people have been wounded in the attack.

Zelenskyi said this while speaking via video link at the UN Security Council meeting. He said he had just been informed about it.

– Rescue work is underway, but unfortunately the number of dead may still rise. This is our everyday life, Zelenskyi said.

– This is how Russia prepared for this Security Council meeting, Zelenskyi stated.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba tweeted pictures of Tshaplino train station after the attack late on Wednesday. The authenticity of the pictures has not been confirmed so far.

Russia attacked different parts of Ukraine

Zelenskyi warned earlier that Russia plans to strike civilian targets on Ukraine’s Independence Day, which was celebrated on Wednesday, August 24. At the same time, on Wednesday, half a year has passed since Russia started its war of aggression against Ukraine.

In the capital, Kyiv, people woke up to Independence Day accompanied by air raids. Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuri Sak said on Wednesday news channel for CNN (you will switch to another service)that at least eight air strikes were heard in Kyiv during the day.

In recent months, Kyiv has been spared from bombings, and in the end no attack was heard even on Wednesday. Before Independence Day, larger gatherings were prohibited in the capital for fear of missile strikes.

Sak adds that during the day, Russia carried out attacks on larger cities around Ukraine. Even to cities that are far from the battlefields.

According to Saki, an 11-year-old child died in an attack on residential buildings in the Dnipro region.

– The number and scope of attacks in different parts of Ukraine, as well as the number of air raids, has been unusual today, even by our standards, Sak states.
