A passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan, on its way to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, and 38 people died. There were also survivors of the accident. Claims that Russia shot down the plane regarding the accident that took place yesterday hit the agenda like a bombshell. Those claims were confirmed today.
THE DRONE EXPLODED NEAR IT AND THROWN SHRAPNEL
According to the news in Euronews, a drone was fired at Flight 8432 during aerial activity over Grozny, and shrapnel exploded near the plane in the middle of the flight, hitting the passengers and cabin crew.
Despite the pilots’ requests for an emergency landing, the damaged plane was not allowed to land at any Russian airport and was ordered to fly across the Caspian Sea towards Aktau in Kazakhstan, government sources told Euronews.
According to the data, the plane’s GPS navigation systems were jammed along its flight path over the sea.
Local media outlets reported that the plane was carrying a total of 67 people, 62 passengers and five crew members.

Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister Kanat Bozumbayev announced in his meeting with Azerbaijani officials that 38 of the 67 people on the plane died.
According to initial findings, it was reported that approximately 30 people died in the accident. However, this number was constantly revised as the search and rescue operation continued.
