A passenger plane belonging to Azerbaijan Airlines crashed in Aktau, Kazakhstan, on its way to Grozny, the capital of Chechnya, and 38 people died. There were also survivors of the accident. According to the news in Euronews, a drone was fired at Flight 8432 during aerial activity over Grozny, and shrapnel exploded near the plane in the middle of the flight, hitting the passengers and cabin crew.

Despite the pilots’ requests for an emergency landing, the damaged plane was not allowed to land at any Russian airport and was ordered to fly across the Caspian Sea towards Aktau in Kazakhstan, government sources told Euronews.

According to the data, the plane’s GPS navigation systems were jammed along its flight path over the sea.

Local media outlets reported that the plane was carrying a total of 67 people, 62 passengers and five crew members.
