According to European intelligence services, Russia is planning large-scale attacks and sabotage in Europe, reports the Financial Times magazine.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) confirms that he has received similar information.
On Sunday, the Financial Times published information that Russia is planning extensive attacks and sabotage in Europe. According to the newspaper’s information, European governments have now been warned by their intelligence services.
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) confirms to TT that he received similar information.
– We knew about this, I myself have received draws on exactly that issue, so it is not new information for us. But it is still serious, he says after SVT’s party leader debate.
According to Kristersson, Swedish intelligence services and the security services of many partner countries share the same picture.
– Russia is prepared to go further and carry out interventions and sabotage on other countries’ soil, says the prime minister.
“Always on your toes”
According to the Financial Times, these include planned bombings, arson and destruction of infrastructure.
Has such sabotage happened in Sweden?
– No, we have not seen any such signs at the moment, but we are constantly on our toes for that risk. Other countries have seen things where you know or believe that there are such connections, says Kristersson.
“Try to influence us”
According to Kristersson, Sweden has a high level of preparedness for that type of threat.
In SVT’s Aktuellt, Foreign Minister Tobias Billström (M) says that the most important thing citizens can do at the moment is to be skeptical and keep a cool head.
– Russia will also try to influence us by sending out signals that it has plans in different directions, and that is also part of the influence to make us insecure and afraid.
