Russia is trying to save its armored vehicles in eastern

According to the assistant military professor Antti Paronen, the battle tanks supplied by the West would give Ukraine a significant advantage against a Russian-backed unit.

The imperative dictated by practice is currently driving Russia to war in Ukraine in a way that causes a lot of crew casualties. That’s how the assistant military professor of the National Defense University, major Antti Paronen.

According to Paronen, in the early stages of the attack, Russia used a lot of armored vehicles to drive the Ukrainians into the group. This resulted in heavy losses of armored vehicles, especially in northern Ukraine.

– Now that they are trying to save armored vehicles, especially in Eastern Ukraine, they are using what is available, i.e. manpower, to carry out similar attacks, Paronen told Radio Suomen Päivä in an interview on Wednesday.

According to Paronen, Russia’s modus operandi can be seen especially in small population centers like Bahmut and Soledar as infantry attacks by Russian soldiers.

– In a specially built area, this type of operation accumulates a lot of losses. The raw logic of war can also be seen in this regard.

Russia has reportedly suffered significant crew losses in Ukraine recently. Ukraine’s estimate of losses is significantly higher than Russia has officially announced.

A significant superiority would be obtained with battle tanks

Western countries are currently considering whether to give Ukraine battle tanks. Even in Finland, there has been talk of donating Leopard 2 battle tanks to Ukraine.

According to Paronen, Leopard 2-type equipment would achieve particularly good security of supply in terms of ammunition. This type of equipment would also achieve combat capability in the dark on a large scale, says Paronen.

– In other words, they would be able to conduct practically round-the-clock armored offensive warfare.

According to Paronen, battle tanks would have a significant advantage against a Russian mobile unit.

– They would be constantly under fire and awake. No military force would last very long.

According to Paronen, the donation of battle tanks could be as revolutionary in terms of the war as the delivery of Himars rocket launchers, which became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance, to the country at the beginning of the war.
