During the night of Friday, the Russian space agency launched its lunar lander Luna-25 from the space base Kosmodrom Vostochny in the Russian Far East.
It will be Russia’s first expedition to the moon in nearly 50 years. The last time was in 1976 and now they are keen to build on the ground-breaking lunar program from the Soviet era.
The spacecraft is expected to reach the moon’s orbit in five days and is expected to land on the moon’s south pole about a week later.
