Russia deploys reinforcements to counter Kursk incursion – LExpress

Russia said it is deploying more military hardware to counter a major Ukrainian armed incursion into the Kursk border region, where fighting has been going on for the fourth day in a row. “The columns marching to the areas where the tasks are being carried out are equipped with BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launchers, towed artillery pieces, tanks […]heavy tracked equipment, Ural and KamAZ vehicles,” the Russian Defense Ministry listed, quoted by the country’s news agencies.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that fighting was continuing in the Kursk region. “The operation to destroy the Ukrainian army formations continues,” Andrei Belousov said in a statement, assuring that he was “thwarting” the Ukrainian attacks.

“Around 20,000” people to be evacuated from border region with Russia

Ukrainian police on Friday called for the evacuation of “around 20,000” people from the Sumy region, located in northern Ukraine and bordering the Russian region of Kursk, which has been targeted by the incursion by kyiv’s forces.

On Telegram, the police specified that these evacuations were necessary in 28 localities due to “enemy fire” in these areas, assuring that emergency services and local services were participating in the operations.

A Russian strike on a supermarket in the eastern Ukrainian town of Kostiantynivka left at least 10 dead and 35 injured on Friday, according to a new report released by the Ukrainian Interior Minister.

In a message on Telegram, Minister Igor Klymenko said that the attack caused a fire in the supermarket, which was brought under control by firefighters, and also damaged residential buildings in the city located about 13 kilometers from the front.

Ukraine claims responsibility for overnight strike on Russian airbase

The Ukrainian army said on Friday it had “successfully” struck a Russian military airbase in the Lipetsk region, nearly 300 kilometres from the border with Ukraine, in an area hit overnight by drone attacks.

Russia must ‘feel’ effects of ‘war’, says Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Thursday that Russia, which has been facing an armed incursion in the Kursk border region for three days, must in turn “feel” the consequences of the conflict it has triggered.

“Russia brought war to our country and should feel” its effects, Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily address, without explicitly mentioning the recent entry of Ukrainian troops into Russia.
