Russia blacklists British journalists

Russia announced on Tuesday that 49 British citizens were blacklisted and barred from entering the country. These are journalists from, for example, the BBC, The Guardian, the Financial Times and the Daily Mail, as well as people connected to the defense, including high-ranking military and politicians.

The Russian Foreign Ministry claims in a statement that the journalists are on the list because they give a “false and one-sided” picture of Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Politicians and the military are listed because Britain provides arms and other aid to Ukraine. Business leaders in the defense sector are also being ported.

The list includes John Witherow, editor-in-chief of The Times, Chris Evans, editor-in-chief of The Daily Telegraph, Tim Davie, CEO of the BBC and Katharine Viner, editor-in-chief of The Guardian. There is also the head of the British Air Force, Michael Wigston, and the Minister of Defense, Jeremy Quin.
