It’s time for bread and games again. This is proven not only by Amazon’s gladiator series Those About to Die, but also by the upcoming action adventure Gladiator 2. The hotly anticipated sequel to the sandal spectacle Gladiator is now available in a new trailer.

Gladiator 2 shows Russell Crowe’s successor as an action machine
Gladiator 2 takes place many years after the events of the first part. Lucius (Paul Mescal), the underage nephew of the sinister tyrant Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) in the first part, lives with his wife and child in a North African province and has left behind any claim to high titles. Then an attack by the Roman general Acacius (Pedro Pascal) forces him to into slavery.
As the new trailer shows, Lucius, following the example of Part 1 hero Maximus (Russell Crowe), takes up the gladiator sword and seeks revenge. Mescal is apparently in no way inferior to his predecessor when it comes to physical force: His film opponent Pascal publicly stated, it would be better to throw him off a building, than letting him fight against his scene partner again.
When will the action adventure Gladiator 2 be in theaters?
Gladiator 2 is coming on 14 November 2024 to the cinema. In addition to Mescal and Pascal, Connie Nielsen can be seen as Lucius’ mother Lucilla, who already played a major role in the first part.
