Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter (DN) managed to confirm several cases where police officers have been caught leaking information to criminal gangs.

The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter (DN) has done extensive investigation about the connections of the country’s police to organized crime. During the investigation, DN found out that there are police officers on the payrolls of Swedish criminal organizations who leak secret information to the gangs.

Since 2018, the Swedish police have started 514 investigations into suspected data leaks. The vast majority of cases remain unsolved. However, DN managed to confirm several cases where police officers have been caught leaking information to gangs.

For example, in 2021 As Camilla a prominent police chief was caught in the act when colleagues who had been secretly monitoring his movements saw him leave a spa hotel room in western Sweden just minutes after a high-profile gang leader.

In another case, a woman who worked as a criminal investigator was caught leaking information to the leader of Foxtrot, known as Kurdiketta Rawa Majidin to a cousin.

According to DN, the woman played a significant role in solving crimes related to gang violence in Stockholm.

– When there was a shooting or an explosion somewhere, the woman was called, the newspaper writes.

Later, the woman started interrogating Majid’s cousin due to new criminal suspicions. In the end, the Swedish police managed to reveal a close exchange of messages between Majid’s cousin and the criminal investigator who interrogated him. At the same time, it was revealed that they had a romantic relationship.

“This is a very serious matter”

The revelation of the corruption embedded in the Swedish police has in a short time shocked the citizens of a country struggling with exploding gang crime.

Prime Minister of Sweden Ulf Kristersson commented today to news agency TT that he considers the revelations of DN’s report very worrying.

– There are huge risks involved if people’s trust in the police weakens. People may think that gangs have infiltrated the police force like the mafia. It is a very serious matter and it must be addressed, says Kristersson.
