Rune badly out – turned around and won after great drama

In the third round of the tournament, the Danish world number six faced the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

And it was super drama.

Rune won the first set convincingly, 6–3. But then Fokina came and won two straight sets and at the same time put Rune in the bridge.

But woe to the one who surrenders.

Holger Rune got back into the match and forced a fifth and completely decisive set.

There they kept pace for a long time and sometimes offered phenomenal tennis. In the end, Rune drew the longest straw and won the thriller with 3–2 in the set, 6–3, 4–6, 3–6, 6–4, 7–6 (10–8).

— Wow, what a match! It was absolutely incredible. One of the best games I’ve played. The crowd was behind me and that helped, says Holger Rune after the match.

The Danish 20-year-old is through to the fourth round of Wimbledon – for the first time.

— It’s big, of course. It has gone better than I had expected, says Rune.
