The casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar has been running on RTL since 2002. Only one season took place without Dieter Bohlen – the previous one. The broadcaster threw it for his Sayings notorious music producer out of format to establish a tamer tone. That worked too, only the audience stayed away.
For the currently running and definitely last round of the superstar search the broadcaster brought back the chief judge. And Dieter Bohlen shows very clearly: he hasn’t changed a bit during his break.
In the current DSDS episode Bohlen, a large part of the jury and the broadcaster RTL present themselves from their worst side.
“Dieter insulted me”: What exactly happened in the DSDS episode
RTL
Candidate Jill Lange at DSDS
The show is currently in the mass casting phase before the recall. Known from various RTL dating shows Jill Long appears before the jury near the end of the episode. Her feature film introduces her as someone to be with “especially as a man” can have a lot of fun. Lange also has to stand out from the jury Comments about her sex life listen
The following Bohlen sentence fell, for example can only be heard before the linear broadcast on the streaming service RTL + was: “Did you do anything normal? Or did you just graduate school and let yourself be fed?”
On the show itself, Jill Lange responded with caution. However, this week she posted an emotional story on Instagram in which she defended herself against Bohlen:
I am absolutely open to criticism. […] But Dieter has become personal. Not everything was shown there. I just have to say that here. These are things that don’t work. Dieter insulted me. RTL is also questionable about Dieter Bohlen’s comments
RTL initially commented on the situation to image:
In the context of discussing Jill’s dating show experiences, we saw no reason to cut the dialogue from the show. Jill would have the competition can leave at any timewhen she feels she’s been treated unfairly – but she didn’t do that.
The broadcaster at least indicates that the responsibility lies with the candidate. And not with the head of the jury, Dieter Bohlen. Besides, that is power imbalance in this constellation between the casting jury and the casting candidate in a TV recording. It is an unrealistic requirement for a candidate to independently withdraw from such a situation.
The episode also went in this form last Wednesday not on air. RTL decided to do that to remove the “through noodles” sentence from the show. RTL has now announced to DWDL that the statement “out of the frame” falls. “Putting the episode on RTL+ as a preview was a mistake.”
In any case, the post no longer contains more blatant insults.
Katja Krasavice saves the DSDS total failure
But that changes that sexist overall impression nothing. Bohlen’s jury colleague Pietro Lombardi also attracted attention with derogatory questions and comments, such as trash TV critic Anja Rützel.
At this point you will find external content from Twitter, which complements the article. You can show it and hide it again with one click.
The only person who behaved appropriately in this situation was a jury member Katja Krasavice. The YouTube star defended Jill Lange against the comments about her sex life (“Like it’s a bad thing”) and kept it fair and factual. She said goodbye to the candidate: “Stay exactly as you are”.
Probably the best sentence after a jury assessment, which was once again about everything but music. By the way, Jill Lange made it into the recall.
