RTL copied Wetten dass – and the first episode flops

Bet that..? is the most popular show in German television history. So popular that it was recently relaunched after a 7-year break, even without Thomas Gottschalk. Cheeky format copies are a long way from repeating this success. That was what the show showed last Saturday I bet on you on RTL.

RTL copy of Wetten, dass..? turns into a disappointing odds flop

That emerges from a report by DWDL. As a result, it brought the format moderated by Guido Cantz just 910,000 viewers. That’s a long way from Saturday’s competitors Schlag den Star (1.01 million) and Der Quiz-Champion (leader on ZDF with 3.19 million).

DWDL criticizes the guest selection from “the usual suspects” like Mario Barth or Sonja Zietlow. The site attests the Savings version of Wetten, dass…“, that they don’t belong to the genre”too much new” can add. A big difference to the model is that real money is used as a bet on RTL. Otherwise almost everything is the same: Normalos try their hand at supposedly impossible tasks. Celebrities have to make predictions and bet on the candidates. Or just: rely on them.

When is the Wetten, dass… clone I bet on you on RTL?
