Daan van der Wees is from Triton, he leads a project in which visually impaired people can get acquainted with the sport of rowing, it is called Rowing Blind. The project has been running for three years. “We try to make rowing accessible to people who normally have trouble starting to exercise,” explains Daan. One of the participants is Hans Traag, he sees poorly because of the disease PXE, his retina is getting worse due to calcification. “My vision is especially blurry. I have a hard time reading and seeing faces is a real problem for me.” Together with two completely blind ladies he warms up in Triton’s ‘De Bak’.
