A challenge to fight food waste
Once the “00 remaining” agents have been selected, the experiment will begin with a review of the races within each household. Participants will be required to weigh their food scraps for the first two weeks of the challenge. After this stage, they can start testing new actions to limit food waste, such as cooking workshops or “zero waste” shopping. Meetings with the other participants are also planned. Facilitators present throughout the operation will follow the evolution of practices for each household. The objective is then to carry out a study in order to determine the extent of the effectiveness of all the methods tested.
According to estimates relayed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition, “food losses and waste in France represent 10 million tonnes of products per year, representing a commercial value estimated at 16 billion euros”. In households, this waste translates into 30 kg (including 7 kg of unconsumed food waste still packaged) per person per year.
