Hope has been delivered to the people of Ukraine.
More than $169,000 of medical supplies have been distributed throughout the war-torn country thanks to the efforts of Rotarians in southern Ontario and western New York. The supplies include 500 trauma kits, 50 hygiene kits, medical equipment, supplies and bandages.
“This is an initiative that began last year,” said Joy O’Donnell, president of the Rotary Club of Brantford. “When war broke out we wanted to do something to help support the people of Ukraine.”
“All of the clubs in District 7090 contributed to help purchase supplies for the humanitarian effort.”
The district includes more than 70 Rotary clubs.
Brantford Rotary contributed $10,000 to the initiative from the club’s World Community Foundation. District 7090 also contributed to the initiative.
The supplies were gathered by area Rotarians and sent to the Rotary Club of Ivano-Frankivsk in Ukraine.
District 7090 Gov. Lisa Bishop, of Delhi said the humanitarian effort is the result of Rotarians committed to “doing good in the world.”
Rotary International has over 1.4 million members in over 46,000 clubs.
