Volleyball player Roosa Koskelo continues to win, as she celebrates the German championship once again. Koskelo has celebrated no less than seven major league championships in his career.
Rosa Koskelo has won two Finnish championships, two Slovenian championships and now also three German championships in the last ten seasons. The third German championship was secured when MTV Allianz Stuttgart, represented by Koskelo, seeded SC Potsdam with a 3–1 match victory.
The 31-year-old libero, who played five seasons in Stuttgart, has won a medal in every major league season since the spring of 2010 – excluding the corona spring of 2020.
– It seems stupid to say that the season was challenging when in Germany we lost one Cup semi-final, one regular season game and one final…but that’s just what it was. We had to fit a lot of pieces together, Koskelo said in the Volleyball Association’s press release.
One reason for the difficulties has been the team’s head coach Tore Aleksandersen’s absences during the past months. The Norwegian coach has advanced cancer. (you switch to another service)
– This amount of work for welding together was exceptionally large for this team. Rarely has a gold medal around your neck felt so rewarding.
Koskelo will play in the tough and consistent German league and in Stuttgart’s ranks next season as well. He told Urheilu last summer that he was privileged to be able to play for organizations that are fighting for championships. However, it was not just a matter of chance.
– My strengths are leadership and responsibility, I’ve never been afraid of them. I’m happy to take on a difficult situation for myself if it helps my friends next to me. I can’t score points, but I can take responsibility otherwise, Koskelo told Urheilu last June.
Now after the third championship, Koskelo feels happy, proud and tired.
– Still, after a long playing career, it is at the level that you can play at this level. He doesn’t look like he’s in his twenties, but he can enjoy playing, he said in the association’s press release.
Finns have also made it to championship celebrations in Europe Eemi Terportti, Antti Ronkainen and Aaro Nikula.
Terportorti already won the second Polish championship of his career, when Jastrzebski Wegiel won Tuomas Sammelvuon coached by Zaksa Kedzierzyn-Kozle in three straight matches. Ronkainen’s BR Volley won the German championship by beating Friedrichshafen directly 3–0. Nikula won the Portuguese championship for the second time with Benfica. This time Fonte Bastardo in the fifth final.
