The snooker megastar withdrew from the event two days before the h-moment.
Snooker superstars Ronnie O’Sullivan’s and of John Higgins had to play two exhibition matches this coming Saturday at the Helsinki Messukeskus.
Acting as one of the organizers of the event Robin Hull however, tells Urheilu that O’Sullivan has canceled his participation.
– This is a very unfortunate and crazy situation. It is the first time in 15 years that O’Sullivan is unable to participate in his scheduled exhibition matches, Hull says.
According to Hull, O’Sullivan’s manager Jason Francis informed him of his protégé’s withdrawal on Thursday, i.e. two days before h-moment.
O’Sullivan has been in the headlines in recent weeks due to mental challenges. He broke his stick before the Masters tournament played last week and did not participate in the competition at all.
According to Hull, the show matches between O’Sullivan and Higgins in the 3,000-seat Arena will not be cancelled, but will be moved to an as-yet-unknown date.
– Spectators who have bought a ticket can use the same tickets to attend the matches, for which we are now frantically looking for a new date. I’m really sorry for everyone who bought a ticket for this move, says Hull.
