Leksand got off to a dream start in the meeting with Frölunda when Peter Cehlarik was cleared by Felix Unger Sörum. Cehlarik didn’t get the reception in order, but with some help from a Frölunda defender, the puck found its way in to make it 1-0.

In the second period, Max Veronneau took advantage of a mistake and scored 2-0. Shortly later it narrowed again and Leksand sailed into a 3-0 lead.

Late in the third period, Malte Strömwall went on a match penalty after handing out an offensive tackle on Jon Knuts.

Then Roger Rönnberg lost his temper after the match:

– Number one, I don’t want to single out the referees, they follow the directives they get from their bosses. But I thought it was a black day for ice hockey. I don’t really think the referees want to get sent off for that when you cover the puck and give out an offensive tackle, he said and continued:

– You find that it is a head tackle, it is very sad. I don’t want this, the players don’t want this, I don’t really know who wants these ratings. Very sad for ice hockey.

Referee Marcus Linde explained why there was a match penalty:

– Offensive tackles are in some cases okay tackles, but what makes it five minutes is that the movement is upward and then it hits the head. The directives we have, we will take an expulsion on that and it will take to the head so that it will be a checking to the head.
