Ronja Savolainen got this to his heart’s content in the North American PWHL league.
Ottawa Charge’s Finnish defender Ronja Savolainen scored the opening goal of his PWHL career in the New Year’s game against the Toronto Scepters.
The Finn, who moved to North America for this season, was able to hit the loose puck to his heart’s content in the second set. Ottawa took a 1–0 lead with Savolainen’s shot.
Toronto rose to the level, but finished off a tasty 2–1 win for Ottawa Jincy Roese a good minute before the end of the actual game time.
Savolainen has scored 1+2=3 points in seven matches this season. His plus-minus statistic is a convincing +5.
Earlier in December also New York Sirens Nora Tulus scored the opening goal of his PWHL career. Also the Boston Fleet Susanna Tapani has opened his goal account this season with 1+1.
