Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has been clear that he does not want to remain at Manchester United since the club missed out on the Champions League. So far, however, no move has materialised, despite Ronaldo missing the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia due to family reasons.
On Sunday, the 37-year-old attacking star scored the first minutes of the season in the training match against Spanish La Liga team Rayo Vallecano. Ronaldo was substituted after the first half and then chose, along with other United players, to leave the arena rather than watch the match.
This was not appreciated by new coach Erik ten Hag.
— There were many more (in addition to Ronaldo) who went home. It is unacceptable to everyone. I told them that it was unacceptable, that we are a team, a squad and that you must stay until the end, says the Dutchman to Viaplay.
The transfer rumors surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract expires on June 30 with an option to extend by another year, are not expected to subside until United start their competitive season with the Premier League game at home to Brighton on Sunday.
The transfer window is open until September 1.
