With a speed of 150 kilometers per hour and a maximum height of 99 meters, the Fury 325 roller coaster attracts the most daring.
But after a terrifying discovery, the Carowinds theme park in North Carolina has shut down the attraction.
After the daughter’s rides, the father discovered a large crack in the support pillar.
– I’m not an engineer, but that’s not right, the visitor says he thought CNN.
His daughter and niece had made their sixth ride on Fury 325, “North America’s tallest, fastest, longest roller coaster of its kind,” according to the park themselves. Then he noticed that everything was not right.
At the top of the roller coaster, a large crack was visible in the steel.
“Didn’t think it could happen”
The father sent the video to the amusement park manager. Ten minutes later the ride was shut down. Inspections and repairs will now be carried out, according to CNN. The park tells the news channel that all attractions are inspected daily.
Visitor George Bledsoe says he was shocked by the incident.
– It is only a few years old. So I didn’t think it could happen, he says.
But discouraged – he seems not to have been.
– I hope that they will soon get it up and running again and that no more new cracks arise in the future.
40,000 incidents this year
Nearly 40,000 injuries have been reported this year at amusement park attractions across the United States. Most recently today, a roller coaster in Wisconsin got stuck upside down for three hours. Several of those who went were children, but all must have escaped unharmed, writes NBC.
After the fatal accident at Gröna Lund, the park has now reopened. On Wednesday, the attractions will also open after being closed for ten days. The state’s accident commission said last week that it discovered deviations at Jetline in its investigation.
