Rolf Lassgård about the role in the new SVT series “Whiskey on the rocks”

News24 met Rolf Lassgård at a press conference on SVT, and then asked him about both the upcoming series and about his private life.

In this series, you play a real person. How did you go about portraying him as realistically as possible?

Bosse Parneviks imitation of Thorbjörn Fälldin is something that I have very much on the retina. So my first thought was actually to get away from it, with both biographies and a lot of clips with Torbjörn alive. It wasn’t that simple that he was just babbling. Rather, it was a rather clever way to buy time and think about what he would simply answer, explains Lassgård and continues:

– And then there was one point that we actually have in common, me and Thorbjörn Fälldin. It’s a novel that I made into a theater in the late 80s called “The Great Wrath”, which was incredibly significant for Thorbjörn Fälldin and also for me.

How well do you think you would have coped with the role of Prime Minister in real life?

– Yes, it would probably have been difficult. But I’m glad we had him as Prime Minister during these days. A man who really stood with both feet on the ground. I would be more nervous today.

Who would you take down in a submarine if you were locked in?

– It sounds terrible. It must be someone with whom you have a great exchange and can manage the time there. A dear friend.

You have a partner, right? How do you keep the romance alive?

– I have a partner. But I keep that to myself, says Lassgård with a smile.

What does a perfect Friday night look like?

– It’s summer after all. Just light the grill.

What do you cook on a summer evening?

– Lamb. Sheep, of course.
