With Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, director Gareth Edwards has one of the best and most valuable Star Wars films created in recent years. Not only is the offshoot of the star saga extremely popular with fans. The spin-off was a huge hit at the box office — and spawned an entire series.
When Rogue One hit theaters in 2016, it was anything but a given that the film would hit the box office pass the billion mark would. Lucasfilm and Disney ventured outside of the familiar Skywalker setting for the first time and told a standalone story leading up to Star Wars.
Instead of Rogue One 2, there’s Andor on Disney+: it’s the best Star Wars series to date
The finale of Rogue One is both a curse and a blessing: Edwards finds an emotional, dark and consistent ending. Rogue One 2 doesn’t make any sense after that though. Because of this, the film was expanded to include a prequel series, which launched on Disney+ last year and tells the backstory. We’re talking about Andor.

Legacy of Rogue One: Andor Season 2 is already in production
Andor Season 1 consists of 12 episodes in total. Season 2 is currently being filmed and is expected to celebrate It will premiere on Disney+ in 2024. Additionally, Star Wars recently brought back another Rogue One character. The villain Orson Krennic appears in the Star Wars animated series The Bad Batch.
Rogue One shows staying power. Although seven years ago it seemed like we’d never see Part 2, the franchise has found various ways to grow the Rogue One brand. It’s entirely possible that more spinoffs with ties to the acclaimed Star Wars film await us in the future.
