In our RoboCop: Rogue City review article, we look at what the action-packed story of Alex Murphy, who was killed by Clarence Boddicker, offers us.
Video games based on movies are not always successful. Like 2005’s Alone in the Dark, or 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation. To be honest, when RoboCop: Rogue City was announced, my expectations were quite low. However, developer Teyon has created a truly enjoyable gaming experience. From beginning to end, it stays true to the essence of Robocop. It is clear from the first moments that the developers have a strong history with the series. Together RoboCop: Rogue City review In our article, let’s see what this action-packed game offers us.
RoboCop: Rogue City review / PC
Robocop: Rogue City was recently released for PC, PS5, and XSX and S. Even though we acquired the product some time before its release, we preferred to wait for some bugs to be fixed. Because it showed that it was a promising production from the very first scenes. After Niketim’s 2nd update, the problems we experienced, especially in terms of performance, were resolved. Of course, this does not apply to Performance mode, you can find the details below.

Story
First, I want to look at Robocop’s background. When Police Department officer Alex Murphy was killed by Clarence Boddicker, Bob Morton, director of OCP, a privatized subsidiary of the Detroit police, handpicked Murphy to transform him into a heavily armored police cyborg. Alex, who is reassigned to the police force, is haunted by his past and his memory sometimes plays tricks on him. However, RoboCop, who gradually regained his memory with the help of his former partner Anne Lewis, became the nightmare of criminals when he started to work on the streets of the city again.
In the new game, we go on a mission against a new enemy that threatens peace and order in Detroit. Set between the RoboCop 2 and 3 movies, your investigation takes us to the heart of a dark conspiracy, with stunning locations to explore and familiar faces to meet.

Unleash RoboCop’s Potential on the Action-Packed Streets of Detroit
RoboCop: Rogue City offers an intense, bloody, arcade-style combat experience. While bullets and explosions surround us, our hero, whose technology is at the highest level, takes his place in the story as the center of power. When we control a war machine that moves on its feet instead of its pallets, these bullets and explosions do not affect us much.
We don’t need to think about taking cover or moving forward on a certain plan. We are directly involved in the pure action scenes of John Wick. It already makes you feel this from the moment it first started. You can repair any damage you may incur with the health packs you find around you. This was a factor that made Robocop more like Quake or Doom. You can kill enemies quickly without having to avoid taking damage.

Speaking of guns, the Auto-9 gun we use has an endless supply of ammo. Although we can pick up and use the weapons of the enemies we kill, I preferred to proceed with a gun in order to have a typical Robocop experience. Of course, although it became difficult to dominate the enemies in the following levels, I was able to solve my problem with 4-5 extra shots.
The technology part we mentioned above is not only about RoboCop’s weapons or defense power. At the same time, it becomes easier to break difficult systems and solve riddles with its powerful computer. Also, we should not forget the RPG elements in the game. As we progress and collect points, we can improve ourselves. In this way, we can unlock many features in the Skill Tree.
Robocop also has plenty of Easter eggs from the series for players familiar with the TV series to find. The fact that it was beautifully crafted with the story added a special naturalness to it. They don’t look like they were added in by force, as we see in some productions. For example, one of the jokes of the Robocop film series is a television show where various characters giggle while watching. You can only watch short clips from this show, which features a mustachioed man surrounded by female models. The most memorable clip was the man yelling, “I’ll buy that for a dollar!” and then bursts into laughter. In Robocop: Rogue City, there is an achievement called “I’d buy that for a dollar”.

While optional, I recommend completing side missions as they often enhance the RoboCop experience and make better use of his abilities. Rogue City is divided into arena-style sections that players can explore and find their way to simpler missions.
We must not rely solely on our weapons to move forward. After all, we are police officers and we have other duties as well. Talking to characters wandering around the city and collecting information or writing a ticket for an incorrectly parked vehicle can bring us new clues about our main mission. Of course, the fact that we say pure action does not mean that the game is progressing on a straight path. Sometimes, by looking at the side jobs given at the police station (for example, helping those who come to complain and taking records, etc.), we can shape other events that may occur in the later stages of the game. Even though all of these are side quests, they add a lot of fun.
RoboCop: Rogue City review / PC
The most important problem of the game is sometimes impossible tasks. While playing, I got stuck in one of the side streets I entered for a raid. I couldn’t find any method to move forward. Even though I figured out how to pass through some of the videos I watched later, the wall that needed to be broken was dysfunctional for me. When I exited the game and entered it again, I found myself at the beginning of the mission. Once I cleared all the enemies from the beginning and reached the relevant wall, I was able to progress this time. Since our character’s progress is a bit slow due to his nature, progressing from the beginning of the level to the point where you get stuck can be a boring experience.
Graphics And Environmental Design
Although everything seems fine so far, you may be wondering why the score is 80 and why I deducted 20 points. The main reason is very clear. The environment, character and interface designs seem to be quite outdated. Although I did not encounter many graphic errors, it does not resemble a game made with today’s conditions. Especially considering that it uses Unreal Engine 5.

The environmental interaction is designed quite nicely. You can use various objects in the environment (such as chairs, TVs, etc.) and throw them at your enemies. Action is action. But when we have such a strong man, I wish I could throw a seat or something, even if there was no car.
We say there is plenty of graphical variety in Rogue City, but for some reason there is no enemy variety at all. It seems ridiculous to kill a man you killed again three seconds later, and even to kill him again in many of the following scenes. This is a production that deserves to be studied in more detail.

Additionally, it is almost impossible to play the performance mode of the game. Even on the 4070 graphics card, it was not possible to navigate the main menu. I had to choose lower levels, which made me angry because I couldn’t get performance from a card that paid so much money for.
Conclusion
Although RoboCop: Rogue City is not a candidate for the Game of the Year Awards, it is a production that can be grasped if it remains true to its essence (and the movie was never very popular). In these days when we are tired of superhero productions, it was a nice experience to see the return of old, less powerful heroes. It should also not be forgotten that Peter Weller once again took on the role of RoboCop. The story scenes of Rogue City were animated by Weller. Even this could be an excuse to take a chance.
