Frölunda has had a good start to the season.
But Roger Rönnberg is still not happy about it.
Now the head coach clearly criticizes the team’s performance so far.
Frölunda has had a perfectly good start to the season and finds itself in a stable fifth place in the SHL table. So far, they have managed to accumulate 15 points in the first 9 rounds and are only four points behind league leader Luleå with 19 points.
Frölunda’s success
The Gothenburgers are coming off three consecutive overtime victories and above all the prestige victory against arch-rival Färjestad stands out. But they are not completely satisfied with that – and especially not the head coach Roger Rönnberg.
– We need to be able to do better to be able to really threaten and become a top team in the long run. That is probably the most important lesson that I take with me from that match, says the Frölunda coach to GP.

A recipe for success for FHC so far has been the successful power play where the club is at the top of all SHL teams for that discipline. Even against Färjestad, three of the team’s four goals came in numerical superiority, in contrast to last season when Frölunda had despaired badly in the power play.
Rönnberg critical
Rönnberg now directs his clear criticism at his own team.
– I think that in the power play, even if we score three goals there in the end, we oscillate too much there and lose a lot of close matches. We have more to give, says Roger in the interview.
Also noteworthy is that the defensive plays Nicklas Lasu and Christian Folin was behind one of the power play goals against Färjestad.
– It was absolutely incredible. It’s not often that I get to get in, but there were probably ten seconds left. Lasu put it up for me, so I just had to close my eyes and shoot, as I usually do, says Folin to the local newspaper.

It seems to have become a routine this SHL season for Frölunda to show his displeasure with some part of the game after every single game. The key player Carl Klingberg agrees that the team has more to give but is not nearly as critical as his coach.
– There is a lot that is positive, but there is still a lot to work on. The feeling is that it was a match seven type of match. It was felt in the dressing room, it was felt on the bench and when we play we are damn hard to beat, says Klingberg about the important victory against the rival team FBK.
