Roger Rönnberg’s nice response to Olli Jokinen’s praise

Roger Rönnberg is known for being a real joker.
For TV4 commentator Patrik Westberg, he tells what he thinks of the new Timrå coach – who gave him good praise before Thursday’s match.
– He is my new favorite coach mate, he says on Westberg’s Instagram.

After twelve seasons, two SM gold and four CHL triumphs will come Roger Rönnberg53, to leave Frölunda after this season. He is already ready for Swiss side Fribourg-Gottéron next season. Therefore, Rönnberg tries to put on a final show more or less every round these days.

Gets praise from Jokinen

Roger Rönnberg loves messing with journalists and delivering a funny joke when the cameras are on. During period breaks, at press conferences and in mixed zones, he slides around and shoots.

So also before the meeting with Timrå on Thursday, a match that Frölunda won 2-1. When Rönnberg meets the TV4 commentator Patrick Westbergwho films material for his Instagram account, the latter tells that he recently had the Timrå coach Olli Jokinen on a visit.

– You… Olli was here a while ago. He hasn’t been in the SHL that long. So he said, among other things, that Frölunda “is a well coached team”. What do you think he thought then?, says Westberg.
– Sounds like a real hockey expert who knows his hockey. He has 1,000 NHL games, right?, Roger replies before being corrected by the TV4 commentator.
– 1200 huh? So you like him now?
– He is my new favorite coach mate, says Roger Rönnberg a little happily.

Starts muttering angrily

Then the conversation starts to derail a bit. Westberg’s questions become bolder and bolder. In the end, the Frölunda coach is sad that the talk will be about his future move to Switzerland instead of the SHL match.

– If he whips you and your team, is he just as good?, asks Westberg.
– Yes, he is even better if he succeeds in that, replies Rönnberg.
– Do you think he will become a coach in Switzerland while you are there? It’s natural that different journalists ask about it when it’s the last season before you go to Switzerland?, says Westberg when he notices that Rönnberg is starting to grumble a little angrily.

Then Roger Rönnberg grabs one of the channel’s microphones and examines it from bottom to top.

– I wonder how far up a commentator’s nose you can stick a microphone like this?, he says a little mischievously.
