The board said it was a unanimous decision that Romses was the “right choice” to lead the agency following feedback from internal and external stakeholders, including staff, community partners and families.

Romses joined the agency in 2018 as director of community living support operations, overseeing all support-related operations including accommodations support, supported independent living, passport support and individualized and family directed support, the release said.

Since taking on the acting executive director role, Romses “has demonstrated exceptional leadership, a commitment to excellence and a true passion for empowering people with intellectual disabilities to overcome barriers and live the life they choose,” the board said.

“As a visionary, empathetic, and opportunity focused leader, Roger is committed to empowering the Community Living Wallaceburg team to create, design and deliver support in a safe and secure environment, providing the highest level of support to the people we serve,” said board chair Ben Hazzard in the release.

“Being a collaborative member of the Wallaceburg and broader Chatham-Kent community, Roger truly believes that with the support of those around them, people can dream, believe, overcome and achieve,” he added.
