A welcoming committee of several dozen people awaited him at Orly airport. Rodrigue Petitot appeared, recognizable from afar with the red hat, which he never takes off.

This forty-year-old, who lives between Martinique and eastern France, is at the head of RPPRAC, the Rally for the Protection of Afro-Caribbean Peoples and Resources.

The collective is at the initiative of the movement against the high cost of living, which has shaken the Caribbean island since September.

The protocol concluded two weeks ago provides for a gradual 20% reduction in the prices of 6,000 supermarket products.

The account is not there for Rodrigue Petitot, known as the “R”.

If he came to Paris, it is therefore “ report the suffering of the people, as close as possible to those who lead “.

And for this he is counting on the solidarity of the diaspora that he has come to meet, but also the rallying of other overseas territories.

The leader of the RPPRAC will thus participate this Sunday in a demonstration, initially organized by Kanak collectives from New Caledonia. They will walk to the Overseas Ministry, with the hope of being received there.
