Rehabilitation has not helped to restore the voice of the singer suffering from a vocal cord injury to performance.
The American rock group Aerosmith announced on Friday that it will stop playing in the middle of the tour.
The band said that the singer was the reason for the decision Steven Tyler’s voice is permanently damaged due to a vocal cord injury that happened last year.
Founded in 1970, Aerosmith has released numerous hits over the years such as Dream On, Walk This Way, Love in an Elevator and Livin’ on the Edge.
Tyler announced last September that he had injured his vocal cords while performing at a concert. He said in a message he published on Instagram at the time that the injury caused bleeding.
Rehabilitation did not save the voice
Aerosmith said in a statement released on Friday that Tyler had been working for months to rehabilitate his voice to pre-injury levels.
According to the band, the best medical experts have helped Tyler, but now it has become clear that a full recovery from the injury is not possible.
– We have made the heartbreaking and difficult but necessary decision that, as band brothers, we will withdraw from the tour stages, Aerosmith wrote in their announcement.
The band canceled their remaining shows on the Peace Out tour, which was supposed to be their farewell tour.
Aerosmith won four Grammy awards. In addition to Tyler, the band now includes guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford, bassist Tom Hamilton and the drummer Joey Kramer.
