According to the news in Duvar, the new statement made by Roblox was as follows: “On September 2, 2024, we filed an appeal against the final decision of the Adana 6th Criminal Court of Peace. We respect the court process and cannot comment on the details of the case due to ongoing legal proceedings. Roblox respects local laws and regulations in Turkey and cooperates with local authorities to restore our users’ access to the platform and prioritize the safety of Roblox users. Through collaboration and interaction, we believe Roblox will play a vibrant and positive role in Turkish society as a platform for learning, creating, and meaningful connections. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together in a safe, civilized, and optimistic world.

The platform had previously said the following about the Türkiye ban: “We have spent almost 20 years making Roblox one of the safest online platforms for our users, especially young people. The safety of our users is at the core of everything we do. We respect the laws and regulations in the countries where we operate and share the importance that local lawmakers place on children. In this context, we will work to ensure that Roblox is accessible again in Turkey as soon as possible.”
Minister of National Education Yusuf Tekin said the following about the Roblox and Instagram ban that was later lifted: he had said: “In today’s digital age, the safety and healthy development of our children are more important than ever. In addition to our schools, teachers and educational environments, social media platforms are also particularly effective in the development of our children. As a ministry, we are taking various measures to protect our children from the dangers they may encounter in the digital world and to prevent digital addiction. In recent years, social media platforms and online games have taken up a large portion of our children’s time.
These platforms can host content that can negatively affect the social, academic and psychological development of our students. Especially popular platforms such as Instagram and Roblox can cause our children to be dragged into digital addiction and encounter uncontrolled content that we can call digital fascism. There is no doubt that it is essential for digital media platforms to respect universal law, domestic law and our responsibilities for the future. Let’s not forget that it is our common responsibility to protect our children from the #DigitalFascism of social media tools. We must all say #StopDigitalFascism together!”
Regarding the process, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Turkey, Yilmaz Tunc, said the following from his X account: he had said: “Due to the content that could lead to the exploitation of children, access to the game platform named Roblox and its links in the application markets has been blocked by the Adana 6th Criminal Court of Peace within the scope of the issues specified in the “Law on the Regulation of Publications Made on the Internet and Combating Crimes Committed through Such Publications” within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. It should not be forgotten that the Republic of Turkey is a State of Law. Our State is obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure the protection of our children according to our Constitution.
It is everyone’s duty to look after the best interests of our children, the guarantor of our future, and to protect and support them. Turkey is one of the countries that closely follows developments in the world and uses technology in the best way. However, the negative use of technology is never acceptable.
“Everyone who thinks about the future of our country and our nation and is in a position of responsibility should approach such situations targeting our children with sensitivity and stay away from populist and irresponsible discourses. Attempts to dynamite our social structure, abuse of children, encouragement of violence, and activities that will negatively affect the development of our children, each of whom is a precious gem, will never be allowed.”
