Nowadays, Robin Söderling knows the signals when he gets too much around him, and therefore he decided this summer to take a break from the DC job.

Instead, Söderling’s representative, Johan Hedsberg, took it upon himself to lead the Swedish team in the competition’s group stage in September.

— I worked a lot with the company and felt that it was too much from all sides and corners, I got small warning signals. It was just a matter of pulling the handbrake before it went too far, says Söderling to TT.

He expects to return to duty for next year’s qualifiers in February.

— Yes, that’s the idea. I think it’s great fun, it went well and it’s great fun to be involved in tennis in general and Swedish tennis in particular.

Söderling has been the Davis Cup captain since 2020.
