It was a loss for Linköping at home against Skellefteå.
After the shootout, LHC star Robin Kovacs talked about all the bullshit he’s heard from the opponents down on the ice.
– When it crosses the line then it’s cowardly, he says to Sportbladet.
It was an even story that the audience inside the Saab Arena in Linköping got to witness yesterday, when LHC took on last year’s winners Skellefteå AIK. The away team had a 3-2 lead until the end of the game, but with nine seconds left came Christopher Ehns receipt. The match was decided on penalties where the guests were still the strongest.
Dislikes the behavior
After the match there was a pissed off Robin Kovacs27, who met the media. There had been very hot feelings down on the ice and the opponents had given in to him both physically and mentally.
– I think it’s fun. It’s fun when it heats up. Then it should be at a good level. One should not go on and cross the line when talking. I have no problem with trashcan. But when it crosses the line, it’s cowardly. I think it did. I don’t know what to say, you have to keep it at a good level. It’s in the heat of battle and I’ve also said bad things on the ice. You have to keep it within the limits. When such abuses occur, it is something you have to stand for, he tells Sportbladet.
Although he was a little saddened by the behavior of the opponents in this match, he admits that most of the players in all teams are the same.

– It’s in general, not just this match. It’s big. I’m not the one whining. That’s a lot you get to hear match after match. You have to keep it at a good level, he says.
“I will not back down”
In the future, Kovacs wants to see and hear less personal attacks on the ice in the SHL arenas around Sweden. He thinks it is unnecessary and that there are only negative sides to it.
– I can only speak for myself, keep it at a good level and stay within the limit. But when it gets personal, I won’t back down, I’ll take the step forward. I always will, he says.
During the match, Robin Kovacs accounted for an assist and a missed penalty in the shootout. Linköping is in ninth place in the table, while Skellefteå – which has lost three straight before the LHC match – is in second place.

Of course it must be hard and tough to play in the SHL, but there must still be a line that no player can cross. The chatter on the ice must be at a reasonable level. In fact, you can’t say just anything.
