Roberto Vacchi now breaks the silence about his health: “Been hell”

He is one of our most popular television commentators.
But now Roberto Vacchi is breaking the silence about his own health.
“It has been pure hell,” he writes emotionally on Instagram.

We all recognize that distinctive voice. For many years have Roberto Vacchi has been a popular and well-loved television commentator at Eurosport and Discovery/Max, where he has primarily become strongly associated with cycling.

Vacchi’s health

During the last Olympic championships, Vacchi has been a safe voice in the television box, so also this summer during the Summer Olympics in Paris. But it’s something that hasn’t matched the TV profile and he’s really had to struggle with his voice for several months.

Now he breaks the silence and opens up with emotional words about his own health.
“There are many of you who, out of concern, heard from you, ‘rest your voice’. I am so grateful that you care, but sometimes it has also been a stressful moment. Because I know that it is and has been weak. This summer has probably been the toughest. After all, I have struggled with it and given everything, done everything to make it work”, writes Vacchi in an open-hearted post on Instagram, read the whole thing below.
“I can probably say that it was pure hell at times. The stress charge before each comment has been tough. Because even though I took it easy in June, for example, my vocal cords didn’t really recover.”

Emotional words

The 58-year-old, who has won both the Crystal and the Golden Shield for his television efforts, says that he has tried everything from bubbling in a glass tube, gargling vinegar, to drinking special tea and various massage exercises without success. Now he has been to Sophiahemmet in Stockholm to overcome his throat problems.

The cause of Vacchi’s voice problems and hoarseness has been due to a harmless cyst that will be surgically removed. Now the TV commentator feels hopeful about the future and thanks his employer for all the help and support.
“There is actually (great) hope that it can be really good. Because it must be said, I have thought countless times about whether I can do this job that much longer. Therefore, it was nice to be able to call and tell them that there is hope for improvement. Because I’m passionate about this. It is a passion. A job that I want to do well. Every single minute. I love it and feel like I have SOME years left anyway,” he writes in the post, see the whole thing below.

On social media, Roberto Vacchi is supported by many Swedish TV viewers.
“I absolutely did not know about this! But damn if they can operate on it. You are awesome at your job, I must say! Very annoying if something like that is going to put an end to you!”, writes a user in the comment field on Instagram.
“We want you to get well soon, you are the best commentator we have. Get over it, all sports are more fun to hear from you,” writes another.
“Good to hear that there is good hope! Your voice was what got me hooked on cycling and want to continue enjoying it,” writes a third.
