Aura Vasama competed in the World Cup as the only Finn.
Rode at speed Aura Vasama qualified for the repeat of the World Cup at the Horse Show with one fall.
Experienced show jumpers accustomed to success took the Kärkisijat in the World Cup of the Helsinki Horse Show. Britain’s Robert Whitaker won with his stallion Vermento in a new track time of 36.84 and claimed the main prize of 62,500 euros. French Kevin Staut was second on Dialou Blue PS and Swiss Steve Guerdat Minka’s third.
Stout’s time on the repeat course was 37.11 and Guerdat’s was 37.56.
– Vermento is a great horse, Whitaker praised his horse after the victory.
– He has a good character as a stallion. It has a big heart and tries hard.
Whitaker was surprised by the way Vermento survived the tight turns in the tight arena of the Helsinki ice rink.
– It is a big horse, and these bends were not easy for it, but I succeeded. I read the distances well, Whitaker continued.
Stout regretted not riding more daringly and with a bigger risk. Guerdat experienced defeat as well.
– I could have been better, Guerdat stated.
The basic track was so good that I didn’t want to fool around with the replay. I wasn’t exactly in a fighting mood.
Vasama enjoys the Cup
Aura Vasama competed in the World Cup as the only Finn. He rode the Canto Bruno gelding with a speedy time of 67.19 on the basic track, but he was eliminated from the repeat by one drop. He finished 15th in the competition.
– I’m satisfied with the whole thing, but the relegation is sad. It could have been so easily avoided. I was thinking too much about it, Vasama said.
The competition confirmed that he has developed to a good World Cup level and there is still more to come.
– I personally have the feeling that zero is coming. We just have to get the entire track to the same level, Vasama continued.
In the previous World Cup competition in Oslo, Vasama finished 14th and got the first World Cup points of his career. He wants to continue the World Cup in La Coruna, Madrid and London in December and Amsterdam in January.
