Robert Salomonsson is suspected of hunting offenses which allegedly occurred on two occasions. One during a bear hunt in 2019 and the other during a lynx hunt in 2022.
The trial is about two cases of serious hunting crime where Robert Salomonsson together with other hunters allegedly used unauthorized hunting methods: partly during a bear hunt five years ago in Västerbotten and partly in connection with a lynx hunt in Jämtland two years ago.
Denies all allegations
Among other things, the suspicions are that Robert Salomonsson, together with other hunters, has used motor vehicles during the hunt itself, which violates the Hunting Act.
Robert Salomonsson himself denies all the accusations and claims that the evidence is lacking.
– Now on Wednesday everyone will find out how it happened, says Robert Salomonsson.
The trial begins on September 25 and a total of eight days have been set aside for the negotiations at Lycksele district court.
Salomonsson: Big consequences
Salomonsson is also critical of how long the investigations have taken, that five years have passed between the current bear hunt and the trial.
He believes that it had major consequences and that he “was sentenced without a verdict”.
The time has been mentally taxing for the suspected hunters, but also stressful for Salomonsson’s family and finances.
– Sponsors have pulled out, I have been denied hunting on several forest company’s lands and my two daughters who were born in the middle of this have also had to take part in it. We have been working on this for five years, it feels good that it is finally underway, says Robert Salomonsson.
