Last week, gold coach Robert Ohlsson was fired from Skellefteå.
Now, for the first time, he has spoken out about the chaos – and what he plans to do now.
– It is quite tough to live in Skellefteå now, he says in TV4 Play.
The already classic quote “I give a shit about the supporters” was the final straw. After that Robert Ohlsson49, made it clear that he doesn’t care about Skellefteå’s fans and their opinions, he could no longer remain at the club.
Robert Ohlsson explains
He got kicked the day after his clumsy statement in P4 Västerbotten. Since then he has been silent, until Thursday night when he was a guest on TV4 Play and their SHL studio. It was the first time Ohlsson spoke openly about the last week’s tumult.
– It was an own goal by me… I understand that they can be upset about the interview, because it is not good, he says.

Many in Skellefteå were, despite the team winning SM gold last year, not satisfied that Robert Ohlsson only had one year left on his contract. That it was common knowledge that he will move to Frölunda next season and replace Roger Rönnberg. He himself says that the future club change has affected him and his way of leading Skellefteå forward.
– I agreed with my new employer a year ago, in November. It’s been quite a while. I was not influenced in that season to win gold. I don’t know what had been affected in my world to win gold this season.
However, many supporters have doubted that he still has feelings for the club and questioned that he is staying when his head is elsewhere. But he dismisses those accusations.
– I think that people, after talking during the summer about me doing my last season in Skellefteå, thought about whether I have heart and soul in this. But I have experienced that I had, he says in the SHL studio.
Ohlsson will do that now
He also reveals on air what will happen in the future. It’s been a week since he was forced out of the club, so now he mostly hangs out at his home in Skellefteå, something he’s really tired of. Next season he will be moving to Gothenburg, but before then he wants to leave Sweden for a while and gather new energy abroad.
– Maybe take a break and disappear for a month and get into things. It is quite tough to live in Skellefteå now. I wanted to be there with the guys on the rink to win gold. Then it gets pulled away, then it becomes tough to be there. We’ll see what I do, he says.
