Robert Helenius said in an interview with boxing journalist Curran Bhatia that the career can continue for at least two more years.
Professional boxer Robert Helenius has spoken about his future plans to an American boxing reporter Curran Bhatian in the interview.
Helenius lost by knockout to the former world heavyweight champion last weekend For Anthony Joshua. The Finn started the match with only a week’s notice and a week after his previous match and was not physically ready for the 12-round match.
– I had a good feeling about the match. In those bouts where my condition was sufficient, I boxed well. With longer training I would have done even better. I still have something to give for at least a couple of matches, Helenius said in an interview.
Helenius told Bhatia that he is going back to training. When asked about the next matches, he stated that if he had to choose, the next match could be in January.
Helenius guesses that he has at least two years left in his career.
– I had a bad shoulder injury, so I’ve been out of boxing for a while. I haven’t been hit on the head that much. I have at least two years left in my career, if the training motivation remains.
Bhatia’s interview was the first to be reported in Finland Evening News.
