Robert Helenius took a stand on his doping case on social media.
of Robert Helenius and Anthony Joshua the Matchroom Boxing promoter company that organized the professional boxing match informed the Finnish time on the night between Friday and Saturdaythat the doping sample provided during the match by Helenius, who suffered a knockout loss, contains deviations that point to a doping finding.
According to Urheilu, Helenius is suspected of using a so-called estrogen blocker. It is only a matter of doubt at this point. Helenius has not been sentenced to disciplinary sanctions for a doping violation, and the content of his sample has not yet been interpreted as a doping violation in the legal sense of the matter.

Robert Helenius, 39, has now published his own bulletin on the matter.
– I want to make it very clear in my own words, he begins its publication.
– I have not used anything now or ever to improve my performance. I’ve been tested throughout my career.
– I was just told that I have given a positive sample for a non-steroidal substance. I wanted to immediately send a message to Anthony Joshua and boxing fans that I have not cheated and I never would.
Helenius ends his message by saying that he is voluntarily cooperating with Vada and the BBBofC to clear his name.
Vada or the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association did a doping test before the match between Helenius and Joshua. The BBBofC is the British Boxing Board of Control, i.e. the governing body of professional boxing in Great Britain.
Testing manager of the Finnish Sports Ethics Center Katja Huotari explained earlier that even at this stage it is not a doping violation in itself.
– It’s about the discovery in the sample. It could be due to the medicine. It could be that the athlete has a different exemption for that drug, or it could be a residue from a nutritional supplement, in which case it is a doping violation, says Huotari.
– Of course, it is possible that it is intentional doping. It is not known at this stage, when the substance is not known, and nothing else is known about the case. We only know that the find has been found.
The information about the test result comes from Vada, which, despite its similar name, is a different organization than the World Anti-Doping Agency Wada, which is more familiar to Finns.
– There is no activity in professional boxing World Anti-Doping Code subordinate activity. Vada’s measures are not one of the activities based on the world’s anti-doping regulations, which Finnish sports are used to, Huotari reminded.
According to Huotar, the elements in Vada’s operation are largely the same, but there are differences, for example in the list of prohibited substances.
– Under the World Anti-Doping Code, substances and methods prohibited in competitions and outside of competitions are defined. Vada only has one list, which can cause problems, says Huotari.
