In the US state of Maine, an armed attacker named Robert Card escaped after causing the death of 18 people and injuring 13 people, and security forces announced that they found Card dead two days later. Joel Merry, Sheriff of Sagadohoc city in Maine, stated in his statement yesterday that Card’s family reached them 5 months ago and that they were worried about his mental health problems and his access to weapons.
“WE FOLLOWED THE PROCESS”
Sheriff Merry underlined that they went to Robert Card’s house many times after the warning, including contacting the commander of the reserve soldier unit, and that they were following the process. Police visited Card’s home and said Card’s brother told them he would “work to secure any weapons Card has access to.” The sheriff stated that Card’s commander assured them that he would receive treatment and that they received the answer that they gave him time to recover.
