Roads must be upgraded when NATO vehicles pass

– I expect the government to see the strategic situation that Skåne and southern Sweden have, says Anna Jähnke (M), regional councilor for development issues in Skåne.

Military and combat vehicles from other NATO countries must now be able to be transported through Sweden, and this will require the road and rail network as well as ports to be able to handle it.

In Skåne, politicians have long wanted to see an upgrade of the infrastructure, which they believe is neglected and undersized.

– In order for us to live up to the demands that NATO places on us, I expect that you will also deliver large investments in Skåne, says Anna Jähnke.

Investments in motorways and railways

According to Anna Jähnke, a lot needs to be done in Skåne. Among other things, European roads must be sustainable. In addition, the railways must have several tracks, especially the section between Lund and Hässleholm.

She also points out that the coordination between authorities must work.

– Above all, it is important that the government reviews so that authorities know how to act in different situations. We cannot have a snow chaos, similar to what we had on E22. It is not a decent NATO country, she says.
