Road to Nagorno-Karabakh opened

Armenia has accused Azerbaijan of fueling a humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh after the Baku government last year blocked the Lachin Corridor – the only road linking the mountainous region to Armenia.

“Thanks to a humanitarian agreement between the decision-makers, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is today able to deliver wheat flour and essential medical equipment to people in need via the Lachin corridor and the Aghdam road,” the organization writes in a statement.

Nagorno-Karabakh is within the formal borders of Azerbaijan, but is in practice a breakaway region under the wing of Armenia.
