Road signs and objects in the toilets cause the municipality to act

In the past week, a different – and recurring – type of vandalism has occurred on beaches in Ängelholm.
Objects such as stop signs and wooden logs have been stuffed into the toilets.
– Damage is more or less common, but this is unique, says Jacob Pinotti at Ängelholm municipality.

In the toilets on three beaches in Ängelholm, there has been a different type of vandalism, something Helsingborg’s daily newspaper Be the first to write about. On repeated occasions in the past week, objects such as road signs and wooden logs have been stuffed down the toilets.

Now the municipality is forced to act.

– Damage is more or less common, but this is unique, says Jacob Pinotti of Ängelholm municipality to TV4 Nyheterna.

– It’s really just really sad. You need to spend time and resources on changing this, you want to spend the money on other things. All vandalism is tedious and costly. It might be fun for them in the moment, but it’s not fun at all, he continues.

This is how the municipality acts

The toilets now close at 20 instead of 22.

– I guess this is not something that is done during the day, says Jacob Pinotti.

– We remove it as quickly as possible, if you let it sit it will give birth to more, he continues.

During his two years at the municipality, Jacob Pinotti has not experienced anything like this. But he has seen worse vandalism.

– Nothing is broken, no broken toilet seat. So now it’s just a matter of cleaning it up, Jacob Pinotti.
