The Swedish Road Administration and municipalities have stopped several planned road maintenance, reports Swedish Radio Ekot. The reason is that the price of an oil-based binder has risen sharply as a result of the war in Ukraine.
A paving engineer tells the radio that the asphalt price has increased by up to 40 percent since last autumn and that in the long run there can be large costs if the roads are not maintained.
