Rijkswaterstaat is taking measures to prevent new traffic chaos around Utrecht. Today, Rijkswaterstaat spoke about this with the mayor of Nieuwegein. Last Friday, Nieuwegein and to a lesser extent IJsselstein were completely stuck due to roadworks on the A2. Sneaking traffic drove in large numbers straight through the cities, causing people to stand still for three to sometimes five hours.
