Province of Utrecht – Even today, according to the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), it is not a good idea to burn wood in a large part of the country. Because there is hardly any wind, the smoke can linger and that is unhealthy for the environment. The institute has issued a so-called heating alert for seven provinces: except in Utrecht, this is in Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland, Zeeland, North Brabant and Flevoland.
