Risky construction of Stockholm’s city hall: “A prayer for the divers”

• The architect was Ragnar Östberg

• Stockholm’s city hall began to be built in 1911 and was inaugurated on 23 June 1923. But in total, including preliminary work, it took around 20 years to complete.

• The construction cost was SEK 18,206,206, as well as the cost of the plot that the City of Stockholm acquired in 1902, for SEK 1,350,000

• The building consists of approximately one million hand-laid and almost seven million machine-laid bricks
