The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power season 2 trailer finally published. The trailer reveals the release date of the new season and many plot clues. Prime Video has released the first trailer for the second season of The Lord of the Rings and promises that this season will be as epic and visually rich as the first. The best part is that fans won’t have to wait too long to see what happens in Middle Earth; because Rings of Power season 2 will premiere on August 29th.
Rings of Power: Season 2 Trailer Review and Release Date
The trailer contains a few clues about where the story of the second season will evolve. One of the most important points that caught the attention of the audience is the scenes in which Charlie Vickers plays Sauron disguised as an Elf with long blonde hair. This indicates that the character will be brought to the screen as the alter ego of Annatar, the Lord of Gifts from Tolkien’s “The Silmarillion”. In the trailer, Annatar claims to be a messenger from the Valar (the gods of Middle-earth) and tricks Celebrimbor into collaborating with him to craft the 16 Rings of Power. While this timeline differs slightly from the books, it looks like the series will adapt this story in its own way.
Rings of Power and New Rings
Another noteworthy detail in the trailer is the scene where Celebrimbor (Charles Edwards) throws a set of rings into the fire. Additionally, the character playing Durin III (Peter Mullen) is seen receiving a ring with a huge blue stone. This ring is thought to be one of the seven Rings given to Dwarf lords. This indicates that the series will cover the forging of the Rings of Power given to Dwarves and mortal humans in this season.
The trailer particularly highlights the construction plans for the three Elven Rings and the One Ring of Sauron. The Elven Rings are shown in all their glory in a scene reminiscent of the beginning of the movie “The Fellowship of the Ring.” At this point, the bearers of the Three Elf Rings are stated in the books as Galadriel (Nenya), Gil-galad (Vilya), and Círdan (Narya). Although we did not meet the character of Círdan in the first season, it is known that he will appear in season 2. This means we’ll be seeing the character, or at least his hand, for the first time.
It is not yet clear whether the One Ring will be forged this season. In Tolkien’s books, Sauron finally forged the One Ring in response to Celebrimbor forging the three Elven Rings. However, it is possible that the series will change this timeline. The words “The Darkness Will Bind Them” appear in the trailer, suggesting that the series will move in this direction.
