Germination can be done in different ways, such as hitting with sticks or stones. Here the church bells are shaken to give them extra swing. In Härslöv, tradition has become a unifying force.
– It’s usually the same people – we’re friends after all. Those who are here have grown up here, says Kurt Andersson.
Long tradition
After the New Year’s prayer, those in charge of germinating, who have traditionally been from the volunteer fire department, gathered and rang the church bells.
The people of Härslöv are proud of their long tradition – and it does not need to spread to other places.
– Then it becomes too common, laughs Kurt.
