It is the first time that there have been problems with these tunnel parts. The reason that there are currently monitoring systems along the viaduct has to do with the Princess Margriet Tunnel in Friesland. The road surface was raised there in December 2022. It was then decided to monitor four other tunnels with the same construction. These monitoring systems have now established that an upward movement has been detected in one of the tunnel sections. “We do not yet know exactly how this could have happened. This is being further investigated,” a spokesperson for Rijkswaterstaat said.
