Gladiator 2 is the sequel to Ridley Scott’s hit film, this time following the adventures of Lucius, played by Paul Mescal.
After long months of waiting, Gladiator 2 is finally revealed. The sequel to the film by Ridley Scottalso directed by the 86-year-old British filmmaker, has unveiled first images in the columns of Vanity Fair before the release of its trailer. We can see in these images the Irish actor Paul Mescal (Normal People, Aftersun) who will play the main role, Lucius, son of Lucilla.
In these images, we can see the actor confronting the fallen Roman general Acacius played by Pedro Pascal (The Last of Us), but also other members of the cast, namely Connie Nielsen who reprises the role of Lucilla, Denzel Washington who will play a wealthy arms dealer who runs a gladiator stable, or Joseph Quinn, the actor of Stranger Things who plays one of the two Roman emperors.
Gladiator 2 will take place twenty years after the adventures of the first part, and will follow the adventures of Lucius, son of Lucilla and Maximus (which Ridley Scott has confirmed), who will seek to find his way in a corrupt Roman empire. For his part, Pedro Pascal will play a soldier who fought alongside Maximus, played in the first film by Russell Crowe. In France, the film is expected to be released on November 13, 2024.
